FAQ

How can we help?

Ingredients

Will the mushrooms make me trip?

The mushrooms we use are magic ... but they're not that kind of magic. Our products use functional mushrooms (aka adaptogens), and although they won't get you high, they are equally as transformative.

Each functional mushroom has its own specific benefits, but all of them work to balance your energy levels, strengthen your immune function, enhance digestion, and make your skin glow.

Does your honey taste like mushrooms?

Nope! Honey is the perfect partner to our finely-powdered functional mushrooms. No more chalky chocolate, gritty powders, or strong, off-putting tinctures. The keen honey connoisseur may detect faint earthy notes enhancing the smooth, sweet honey flavor.

Sparkles! Surprise! What is this glittery fairy dust in my honey?

Mica is a naturally occurring mineral. It is food grade as most minerals are which means it's fully edible!

Our mica is sourced from a small company in California and is US-mined and tested, meeting FDA and EU food standards.

It's kosher, USDA organic, tasteless, odorless, and highly pigmented without dyes!

What are adaptogens?

They are active ingredients in some mushrooms and herbs that help our bodies cope with stress, respond to anxiety, and tolerate fatigue.

There are three qualities that mushrooms and herbs must have to be an adaptogen:

  1. They are non-toxic when taken in normal doses.
  2. They help your body cope with stress.
  3. They allow your body to return to balance (homeostasis).

The goal of taking adaptogens is to return your body back to homeostasis. The herbal action in adaptogens increases or decreases chemical reactions within your body (reference).

For example, if you're stressed (elevated cortisol), an adaptogen will respond by reducing cortisol levels. If you experience chronic fatigue with low cortisol levels, an adaptogen will increase the level of cortisol in your body.

For the nerds among us, here's a more in-depth explanation.

Studies reveal that adaptogens exhibit neuroprotective, anti-fatigue, antidepressive, anxiety-reducing, nootropic, and Central Nervous System stimulating activity. Clinical trials demonstrate that adaptogens exert an anti-fatigue effect that increases mental work capacity against a background of stress and fatigue, particularly in tolerance to mental exhaustion and enhanced attention.

The regulation of homeostasis occurs via several mechanisms of action, linked with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the regulation of key mediators of stress response, such as molecular chaperons (e.g., HSP70), stress-activated c-Jun N-terminal protein kinase 1 (JNK1), Forkhead box O (FOXO) transcription factor DAF-16, cortisol, and nitric oxide.

Where are your products made?

Liv Fuller was founded and operates in Alabama. All of our ingredients are grown or made in the USA. Our mushrooms are US-grown and our honey comes from apiaries and small farms across the US. Even the cotton we use in our merch is US-grown. This allows us better control over the quality and origin of our ingredients.

Can you eat mushroom honey while pregnant or nursing?

This isn't to protect us, it's to protect you. Please consult your physician before making any changes to your diet during pregnancy.

Product

How do I use Liv Fuller's Sparkle Functional Mushroom Honey?

For a mess-free dose of daily magic, squeeze Liv Fuller's Organic Sparkle Mushroom Honey in your coffee, on pancakes and fruit, in yogurt, in a cocktail or non-alcoholic craft drinks, or straight into your mouth. Anywhere you'd stir in a bit of honey.

What is the proper dosage?

While there isn't one established dose, research has suggested taking between 250-1,000mg per day of Lion’s Mane and 1,000-4,000mg per day of Reishi, if you are looking to enhance cognitive and immune function.

One serving (21g) of our Squeeze Bottle Sparkle Functional Mushroom Honey contains 250mg Lion's Mane and 250mg Reishi. We chose this amount so you can enjoy multiple servings and still get the perfect dose without overdoing it.

Keep in mind that depending on your age, weight, gender, and the medical condition you're addressing, dosage may change. You should always contact a licensed physician/doctor before adding any new supplements, especially if you're taking other medications or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the foam on top of my honey?

No, your honey is not spoiled! The foam is a sign of raw honey that has been packed naturally, without any heating, processing, or added artificial sugars. Through the mixing process, air is introduced to the system. The air bubbles up through the honey mixing with the pollen, propolis, and mushroom grain that are making their way upward as well. The result is a delicious, fluffy, frothy foam, dense in nutrients.

Do you accept returns?

At the moment, we do not. Our product is expensive to create and we believe that you will not regret ordering it to try for yourself. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at talia@livfuller.com.

Storage

How do I store Liv Fuller’s mushroom honey?

Store in a cool, dry place, which maintains a steady temperature. Our packaging is moisture and humidity resistant to aid you in preserving the product's integrity.

Does mushroom honey expire?

Here’s the scoop. Honey is not a perishable food, meaning while it may change, if stored properly, it doesn't go bad or become unsafe to eat. In 2015, archaeologists found 3,000-year-old honey while excavating King Tut's tombs in Egypt, and it was perfectly edible. This incredible durability is thanks to honey's antibacterial qualities: due to a protein called defensin-1 protein which is part of the honey bee immune system and is added by bees to honey!

What about the mushrooms? Mushrooms are dehydrated and powdered to extend their shelf life.

When stored properly, Liv Fuller's Mushroom Honey will stay fresh and flavorful for a long time, though we recommend using it within two years of purchase.

What do I do if crystallization occurs?

Because we do not pasteurize or have additives in our honey crystallization is natural. Simply heat the honey at a temperature of 100°F (37.8°C), like a hot tub.

Submerge the container into the water just above the crystallized honey. Loosen or remove the lid to allow for air expansion. Be sure that the container will not tip over into the water.
